The aim of the First International Symposium RMO 2008 is to bring together International Organisations – BIPM, OIML, and ILAC, and Regional Metrology Organisations (RMO’s). Representatives of the international organisations and chairpersons of RMO’s will describe functioning and prospective of their organisations. The representatives of the National Metrology Institutes (NMI’s) will be invited to present their efforts and to discuss hot topics and challenges.
Twentieth International Metrology Symposium is traditional gathering of experts coming from academic and scientific communities.
Having these two events in the same time would be rare opportunity to bring together the people from metrology state offices, accreditation bodies and scientific community.
Symposia are joined events with IMEKO Technical Committee 8 “Traceability in Metrology” two-day Workshop “Traceability in Metrology” – Traceability to support CIPM MRA and other international arrangements to be held in Torino (Italy), 6-7 November 2008.
International Technical Sessions
Part of the TC 11 Symposium will be the 20th International Metrology Symposium with the authors who will present the papers on topics:
- Mass and related Quantities (including Force, Pressure, Air Density, Torque, Viscosity and Hardness);
- Electricity and Magnetism (including RF and Microwave);
- Dimensional Measurements (Length, Form Measurements, Complex Geometry, Angular Measurements, Laser Measurements, Nanometrology, Surface Texture);
- Time and Frequency;
- Thermometry (including Thermophysical Properties and Humidity);
- Ionising Radiation (including Radiometry and Dosimetry);
- Photometry and Radiometry (including Fiber Optics);
- Flow (including Fluid Properties);
- Acoustics, Ultrasound and Vibration (including Accelerometry);
- Amount of Substance;
- Environmental Measurements
Tutorials
Invited experts will conduct tutorial sessions and workshops covering metrology, testing, accreditation and conformity assessment infrastructure (Metrology and health, Education and training, Uncertainty and conformity assessment, Unification of the production of reference materials, Ionising radiation – traceability, Drogue in sports, GUM in Conformity assessment, Soft metrology, Nanotechnology, Power and energy measurement, ...).
